Hello All,

I am hoping to replace our current Modal test and analysis software (LMS’ CADA-X) with another software. I would like to use our current data acquisition hardware with the new software. We are currently using a VXI main frame (E1421B) with two 16-channel input modules (E1432A). We currently do impact and shaker testing. Anyone have a solution to this request?

Thanks,

Yes, but you'll regret it.

Try Cranfield Data Systems, Prosig and SDRC. Better yet get a copy of Sound and Vibration and read the ads.

There's nothing particularly wrong with the other systems, but in my opinion LMS is now the industry standard for good reasons.

Greg,

Thanks again for the help and the direction. I have a copy of S and V and I’ll check it out. I know that LMS is considered the industry standard but for some reason the software and hardware are not playing well together and I don’t want to start from scratch again.

If anyone else has hardware like the one I use with different software I sure would appreciate hearing from you.

Thanks,

I'd be giving the LMS support people a merciless bashing. We installed a dedicated phone and fax next to our LMS just so we could phone them up any time and get them out of bed. We were paying something like 15% per year for our support, so we felt entitled to all the handholding we needed.

Greg,
LMS support would disagree with you on the hand holding idea. Here is a response I got from the Customer Support Manager; “The intent of support is to assist in the operation and uncovering issues with the LMS software. It is not intended to provide training.” We later found out this was a software issue and they charged us for fixing their software, hence this is why am looking for another software vender.

Wow. I guess we have more clout with them than you do -we must have several hundred workstations running CADA X worldwide.

Have you found any other vendors? I worked with the Prosig guys for a couple of years a long time ago, they are very cluey and helpful.

Greg,

I took your ideas and called Prosig, which I'd have to replace my hardware if I went with them. I also looked in S and V and contacted ME'scope and Star 6. I have not heard back from them yet. I'll also follow up on the other, SDRC and Cranfield. Hopefully one will pan out.

Thanks again for your help,

BJP
