In 2007, after inserting the BOM on a sheet, you could pick the BOM and in the bottom of the task pane there was were 2 options, BOM Contents and I forget what the other one was. You could pick a BOM item and move it up or down to renumber it.

I typically renumber the assembly BOM so that the balloons start at number 1 on the top of a sheet and increase numerically reading from top to bottom. Right now the numbers are jumbled and in no numerical order and you have to hunt a part and its balloon.

Where in SW08 can you find BOM Contents or whatever to renumber it and the balloons?

Select the BOM and the BOM manager should open.
In the Item Numbers section de-select Do not change Item Numbers.

Thanks CBL. To add to your reply, you then pick the balloon and renumber it from a drop-down list.

I can right click on the BOM and select properties to get the "properties", but I do not see a BOM manager. What am I doing wrong?

By the way, I am trying to verify that all items have been ballooned, and am working in a file created in 2007

BOM manager does not seem to be the technical term since it is not in the help search.

Try bill of materials, PropertyManager in the Index section of the Help files.

The file was created in 2007, but which VERSION of SW are you working on, '07 or'08? You manipulate the table in different ways depending on which version of SW.
