I am an amateur render-er!

I designed an aluminum plate, that needs to be machined on only one specific face. How do I assign materials to this?
Can you assign two material types to one part? One dull or unmachined one, and one machined shiney one.

If this is not the correct approcach, what do you suggest?

Search the help file for part painter, that'll give you more detailed information.

In general, the part contains an overall material/color based on the material table. But, you can select a face and apply a specific style to just that face. Part Painter is the tool to use in order to accomplish that task.
