Rendering bug RISA3D v16.0.3

Hi,

I just started using RISA 3D v16.0.3. I'm trying to do some basic models, but I have a problem: Whenever I insert a member, when I toggle between the wireframe and the renderized model, there's seem to be some kind of bug, the members are displaced, as if there's some kind of offset. This doesn't seem to affect the plates, just the members. I don't know what to do and I have found nothing like this in forums. I'm attaching some screenshots of the problem.

It feels like your plate sizing/member sizing is way too large for the frame you are analyzing. Can you double check your units/scale?

I don't think so. I'm trying to do an example from the official RISA Tech youtube channel (

But for some reason I get these strange results, the members are always displaced... Look, this is the same example than the one published by RISA tech in youtube, using the same beam members (W12x14 for the columns and W10x22 for the beams):

I looks to me like you may have some 'analysis offsets' accidentally set on your members.

Well, there is one other options that is the "detailing" options which don't affect the behavior in RISA, but rather dictate how the program interacts with steel detailing software (for the CIS/2 translator). This is usually hidden from the interface. But, to turn on the controls for this, go to Tools - Application settings:

Once you have this turned on you can go to the member double click dialog and you will now see a detailing tab where you should be able to turn off any offsets.

Granted, this could be a true bug. However, I don't see any mention of it in the release notes for 16.0.4, 16.0.6 or 17.0.0. This may not mean as much as it used to, however. I get the sense that new RISA / Nemetschek management views release notes more differently than when I was there. Maybe as more of a "promotional tool" to highlight new features for customers.

It's showing up as normal in V17.0.0

Perhaps it is a true bug and you just need to update.

I'd say you either have a bug or a computer error. Video drivers up to date? Windows up to date? Tried reinstalling RISA? Rebooted recently?

Hi miguelo29e, to me it looks like it is just some small display issue (either locally or in RISA-3D v16.0.3). Regardless, I have verified that this is not an issue in v16.0.5 or either of the v17 releases (v17 or v17.0.1). Please let us know if you have any other issues after updating. Thanks.

Nah, I don't understand anything. I downloaded a cracked full version of the RISA-3D v16.0.5 and tested a new model at home, but the result was the same:

It's really anoying...

Aha!! If it's a cracked version, then I can understand the problem!

The RISA license protection is pretty sophisticated. If you by pass the license protection, then you are bypassing important information that also gets used in the calculations and also the graphics.... rendering probably more than other graphics.

If you solve the model, you should also get errors with your calculations.

Well you deserve everything that goes with downloading an illegal copy of the program, and wasting the time of legal RISA users, who have gone out of their way to help you here. Sheesh!

My thoughts on this basically come down to:
Don't download cracked software!

[li]It probably doesn't work correctly (as is the case for this user). Certainly there are people smart enough to crack the software. However, they aren't usually structural engineers, so they can't exactly verify that the program works correctly after they've "cracked" it.[/li]
[li]Even if it does, there is a good chance there it comes with a virus or other malware along with it.[/li]
[li]Most companies (like RISA) will give you a pretty robust "demo" version or trial license of the software.[/li]
