relay wrong way round

Hi there i work in small plastics factory. we have a 440t molding press, the heats have started to play up zones dropping so we have put it down to one of the relays going so we got a new one but someone(me) put it in the wrong way round.Is this likely cause a lot of problems ie no heats at all now. thanks for any help.

How do you install a socketed relay incorrectly? The coil can be wired either way around, and if it's a simple SPST type, the contactor can be wired either way... but you can't swap coil connections for contactor connections (that mistake would be obvious in operation).

If he swapped a 24 volt control circuit to the elements and the 415 or whatever power circuit to the coil I expect it might not work or it might blow up, depending on what wires ended up where.

Like Dan says it would not be easy to do and would require some really stupid deliberate actions.

If you wired the control voltage to the high side, you will blow the relay up and will have to get a new one.

Thanks for getting back to me, yes it took the relay but worst of all it took the card as well which will cost a fair bit to replace.First time id done it so still learning just a shame its going to cost a lot.

From what I remember of Solid State Relays, Contacts 1&2 are your OUTPUTS and Contacts 3&4 are your control. What sends your control signal to the Relay? Do you have a PID controller?
