I'm looking for a website that lists the RELATIVE costs of piping materials typically used in a chemical plant.

I was recently made aware of the volatilty of the metals market when I received a quote for a significant amount of AL6XN pipe/fittings - and the quote was good for only 24 hours.

Still, if anyone knows of such a source, I would appreciate it.

Thanks,

Donf

I'm looking forward to seeing if someone has a good "quick" reference. I use Aspentech's Icarus project manager software for project estimating. It is geared toward overall project cost and isn't friendly for drilling down into the actual fitting cost. Also, you only get updates on pricing once a year or so with software upgrades...so when China is buying up all the scrap iron like this spring and the materials markets are going thru the roof, youre estimate is way off if you don't get some comparison quotes.

A good reference for material and installation costs are the RSMeans construction estimate catalogues. The catalogues are updated annually. More information here: rsmeans.com

ENR mag. publishes monthly material updates for about 10 cities in the US
