regulations for new low voltage equipment

Hi, I am a student studing at the university of Wales, Bangor - I am after any information regardding goverment regulations or any other regulations which new low voltatage equipment must conform to. I need this information for part of my project, I would be greatful for any information no matter how abstract !!

Hi Mike,

Your question has such a large scope. What kind of equipment do you have in mind? Circuit breaker, transformer, panel board, safety switch....? Each of them have their own IEC standard.

Furthermore, IEC could be only a base as National Authority can reinforce the IEC with some local regulations.

To get some info, try to visit IEC site first

Also look to British Standards for those that support conformity with the Low Voltage Directive. e.g.BS 60204 on Electrical Safety.

As FMegret stated it would be helpful to know a little more detail of your project objectives.
