Hi Guys,
I am using nx9 cam for 3 axis milling and learning as I go. Maybe I am making a stupid mistake but most material removal operations I perfom/create (all different) seem to leave a small amount of material where the tool is coming on and off the part for each pass. This is not shown in the IPW. Is there a setting commonly used to make sure this does not happen?

many thanks,
james

What type of operation are you using? Can you post an image of your result?

Floor and wall planar milling operations for example. There is always a land left where the tool comes on and off the job. This can be removed with a finish wall operation afterwards but I would be happy if the first op removed all the material - is this just wishful thinking?

comments welcome! thanks..

Without seeing an image or a part file I'm somewhat guessing here. Can you supply more info? Floor and Wall can do some amazing things but there are many options to get the output you are looking for. You might try increasing your tool overhang in cutting-containment. Depending on if you have drafted walls and/or a floor blend/chamfer, exact positioning can affect the result. Extend walls is another option to look at.

Can you post an image or simple prt example?

Exactly what operation are you using?
mill_planar > floor_wall?
mill_planar > planar_mill?
If you are using mill_planar > finish_floor for example, there is stock on the wall in the template. Is this what you are seeing?
