Refrigerant Leak Detection Requirements

I am working on a project that has Direct Expansion HVAC units installed to cool a birthing barge. The condenser units are on the roof and the AHU's are in the spaces throughout. We have been asked to go back a decide where refrigerant monitors should be located in the spaces below. Is there a specification or requirement for where to locate monitors and how to go about doing this? Since it is basically being used as a Hotel I can see the desire for leak detection for saftey reasons if you have a leak in a stateroom. Does anyone know if ASHRAE has any document to govern this type of design. Maybe something that bases the detection requirements off the size of the refrigerant charge?

i use en 378 for that, while i believe it's ashrae 15 and/or 34

Right, Drazen -- ASHRAE 34 tells what (classification of refrigerants) and 15 tells how (where monitoring is required, how much refrigerant triggers it, how to arrange the ventilation and alarming, and other what-not).
