OK, I've seen this done a couple of ways, but don't quite remember them, know if there is a "standard" way. (Just FYI, using SolidWorks, and I'd think it'd be nice of it to put that type of note in as a feature when move the section views around.)

Cut a section, or make a detail view on sheet 1, put the section view/detail on sheet two. Best to cross-reference back and forth.

On sheet one, the section line has the A-A on it, and I can put a note under it stating 2:2A (or 2/2A) for sheet 2, zone 2A, or put in a box with a line around it, etc. On the section notes, can reference back to the calling sheet with 1:4B (or whatever). Is that enough? More info needed?

Thanks in advance.

Are you asking how to move the section view from one sheet to another, or how to add the cross-referenced note to the moved view? .. or both?

If it's the Move, you can use the regular cut-n-paste methods.
If it's the note, you have to add it manually.

MIPOD? Something Something "Post of Day"???

I know how to move, I know how to add the note, I was asking if below the Section cut line you would put:

SH 2, ZONE 2A

To reference where to look for the actual section view. And if do the same to cross-reference back to the cut. (Or detail) I've seen it as listed above, could be done with just "2:2A", or could be done within a block, something like:

Code:
_______
| /| 2
2 /
  /
/ A
_/____

I don't recall there being any specific standard in ASME Y14...

And just as an aside, I stated that it'd be nice if SW did the cross-referencing for you...such that when you move a view, the references would auto-update. I hate having to manually update things like that with "dumb" notes.

I don't know about a standard for such, but if I had to I would use a long-hand note, "See Sheet 1".

MIPOD ... [ponder] ... [idea] ... Most Inscrutable Post Of (the) Day.

Thanks "inscrutable" is much nicer than "idiotic". Whew.

Nah, certainly not "idiotic". I was thinking on the lines of "incomprehensible". It's obvious you're trying to do something sensible, but it's not too clear what that is. "Inscrutable" certainly fits the bill as well. :) Sorry for the bluntness. I meant to be jovial, but, upon another reading, it looks mean-spirited. Comes from posting when I'm too busy with other stuff to have any business doing so.

Handleman, no problem, I didn't take it mean-spirited at all, was just curious the acronym. I agree it was confusing, wasn't sure how to say it..I think I did a better job with my repost...
