I'm just curious if any of you folks have any recommendations for a good general ME (or general engineering for that matter) reference text. I've got too many old text books and I'd like an updated text that can sort of consolidate all of the important topics. Some calculus/transform reference would be a plus too! Thanks in advance for any ideas

For maths Kreyszig is my usual reference, but it may not be the ideal learning book.

For ME Shigley has a lot of interesting stuff and is not afraid of the hard bits.

Please see FAQ731-376 for tips on how to make the best use of Eng-Tips.

Marks' Standard Handbook for Mechanical Engineers is a classic. It's also good to have Machinerys Handbook.
