Dear All:

Please direct me to popular references for "Pipe Rack Analysis/Design". I will soon be involved in designing a pipe rack for a steam pipe and want to get to know the things I should be wary off apart from the obvious.

Thanks

For High wind areas use "Wind loads and Anchor Bolt Design for Petrochemical Facilities" from the ASCE. It explains the wind load distributions for pipe rack and platforms.

well most large engineering firms (fluor, jacobs, kbr, etc.,) has guidelines for piperack design.. try to get a copy of this from your co-worker..

Nothing really abnormal in the design, I do agree with Elindio about "Wind Loads and Anchor Bolt Design for Petrochemical Facilities", great referance, and fairly inexpensive ($30 US)

The size and configuration of your rack will be determined by the size/elevation of your steam line, also give thought to whether or not anyone will want to use this rack for running pipes in the future.
