It would probably save me thousands of mouse clicks and a lot of wrist movement a day if I could use the keyboard to scroll through a sketch rather than the scroll bar.

How can I redefine the arrow keys to scroll left, right, up, and down?

If its not possible with the arrow key, how can I make any set of keys to scroll?

How do you mean scroll through a sketch? CTRL-Arrow Keys will allow you to pan around the screen. (No idea if that's what you're looking for.)

Yes Ctrl-Arrow is what I am referring to as scrolling. I guess "pan" is more appropriate? Ctrl-arrow is clumsy while working the mouse with the right hand.

How do I change it from Ctrl-arrow to just arrow? Or 4 other single keys?

Ctrl with the mouse's scroll wheel depressed pans also.

A faster way to move also is to use the mouse wheel to zoom out, then move the pointer to where you want to go to and then zoom back in.

Yeah, I just leave my left hand on the arrow keys and CTRL key, which is close to the number pad that I use for quick keystroke commands for stuff like converting entities, extending, trimming, etc.

Thinking about the new SpaceExplorer for $299. Looks like a good way to go for motion control and I would LOVE to over-ride the ridiculous kludge of navigation in my Adobe products [/contempt] with such a device.

We're still waiting for a guinea pig to try out the $59 SpaceNavigator. The owner of the Spaceball 5000 USB I am using is threatening to repo the Spaceball. If he does, I can't work without it, so I may be forced to get the SpaceNavigator. [viking2]
