I am using CAD 2000. I have back-up files that were saved via the automatic save option. The files have an extension .bak. I can't open them with that extension. The help section says to save them as a .dwg file to open. How do I save the .bak files to a .dwg file?

Thank you

If the bak file exists and dwg file exists,
you have to rename the bak file with another
name and with the dwg suffix. Otherwise the
prompt should appear that the dwg file already
exists. I am curious as to why you want to
open an earlier version of the drawing.

Rename the file to a .dwg extension. Be sure the file name is not a duplicate.

A side note... If your explorer window does not show the extension as part of the name (ie Drawing.bak) then make sure you enable this first through the TOOLS >> FOLDER OPTIONS in explorer. I have answered that a few times for people here at work.

Thank you. Enabling Explorer correctly worked.
