Recommended Max. Limit on Number of Configurations?

Hello all,

Is there a recommended Max. Limit on Number of Configurations a Part or an Assembly can have before its going to effect the performance of the Top Level Assembly (smth corresponding to the Top Level mates =300).

There is no max limit on COnfigs. It will vary on complexity of the model and DT (if one exists). I have seen some files have up to the neighborhood of 1000's of configs with a DT and others like I made (very complex) anything over 50 configs created slow downs.

It's going to vary on how it was built and designed by you.

I have a Zero case part which has 519 configs. No fancy equations or anything. Just overall sizes, & corner rads, material thickness & type and case number.

It loads real fast & has no noticeable impact on models I have used it in. However, opening the DT to change or add sizes takes about 2 minutes.

I guess it would depend on how complex the DT is & whether it has to have multiple iterations of calculations.

@ minutes sounds too long. How many dimensions is the design table controlling? Our fastener parts contain up to 220 or so configs with a design table and it opens rather quickly. But I only control 3 or 4 dimensions and some custom properties.

In the Yellow section, is cut & pasted data from Zero Case, in the Red section are the models controlling dimensions & in the Green section is BOM & future MRP data.

On home computer; Open model = 7secs, Open DT in separate window = 1min 35secs

Did not actually time it at work but felt like a couple of mins.
Will check tomorrow.

I'd say about 5-6 secs to open the file. And about 40-45 seconds to open the design table and 10-15 seconds to close it.

"Edit Table": 45 seconds
"Edit Table in New Window": 56 seconds
