We have Dell Precision 450's, 3.06 GHz Xeon, 1 GB RAM. We are trying to improve performance, especially for large assemblies. We plan to double the RAM and try higher end graphics cards. Anyone have some recommendations on high end graphics cards? We currently have Nvidia Quadro FX 3000. Thanks.

I would check SolidWorks website for certified cards. I personally use the NVIDIA Quadro4XGL 750 with no problems at all. At work I use the 3D Labs Wildcat VP888 Pro

the 750 I thought were a little older of a card and the FX series cards were newer then those. The FX have been out since last year. Just recently PCI Express cards became avail. but they are only good with a Motherboard that supports PCI Express. So i would look at the FX series and the high end of those a re 3000 and 4000. I use a 1100 and 500 without a single issue.

YOu can find a benchmark here

Don't get an NVS card because those Quadro's are unsupported.

To also help with performance check out the following web pages regarding VM & the use of the /3GB switch, but make sure you are running XP-sp2 before you activate it.
