Are there any good books out there that would cover Advanced Solid Edge (V17/18) topics like customization?

Also any books that would cover assembly techniques?

In searching the past messages on the UGS BBS, I got recommendations for John Haslem's books. But there hasn't been an update to them since V15.

Thanks,
Dominic Greco

I may have a chance to meet John this Friday for an update seminar. I've been interested in his books as well. If I have a chance to talk to him, I'll get an update on his books and let you know what I find out.

Hi Dominic
My company has purchased 3 or 4 of the John Haslem Books (V12) and I would highly recommend them for the newcomer to Solid Edge. However, I'm not sure if the advanced Solid Edge user would find them too helpful. I guess it depends on your definition of advanced. So far I've found this forum to be the most helpful for the advanced problems Ive encountered.

Dominic,

I attended a verson 18 update seminar Friday. My local reseller Outlook Design was kind enough to provide a free 4 hour session an even provided pizza. John Haslam was there and showed us the new features and enhancements in version 18. I spoke to John after the seminar and he said that he has some books out for version 17. You might want to call him and get some more details. He is in the process of updating his web site and that's why we have not seen the new books just yet. John's emhpasis on the books is not just what tools are available, but when and why you should use them. I plan to take some classes in the near future and I can probably provide some more detail at that time.

Although I have no first hand experience I have been told that the Doc Walt books are very poor when it come to real world workflows because they are writtin by non-users with no practical experience with Solid Edge.
