Reciprocation compressor clearance(end)

WHy we keep pumping clearance is 2/3 of full clerance in Head or Free end? why we keep more clearacne in crank end?

Are you talking about the cold clearance you set when you reassemble and compressor?

IF SO, the 2/3 - 1/3 rule is to allow for expansion of the rod and piston once they warm up.
