Dear Guys

I am executing overhauling of reciprocating double acting compressor. experts please guide me what main and core points should be given significant consideration as per API 618?
Also, i have read that during off load 4 hours testing, bearing temperature, cross head temperature along with others parameters have to be observed. My question is how? Can we use temperature gun? If yes then the question is oil will be splashing thwn it is impossible to use temperature gun ? Please share your valuable thoughts and recommendations
Thanks

I'd say your best resource would be the compressor manufacturer, has you asked them about a test and run in sheet?

Ariel used to be very good about this when I dealt with a lot of their units.

No I want some good and main ppintsy from API 618?
ALSO I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW HOW TO MEASURE TEMPERATURE OF BEARINGS ANS CROSS HEADS DURING OFF LOAD RUNNING CONDITION. THIS IS NECESSARY AS PER API 618

Well, take a look at this first,
Measuring bearing and crosshead temperatures depend on construction of the compressor and how the original manufacturer configured it.

Since it appears the compressors you are dealing with do not have active temperature monitoring probes, then you will likely need to retrofit active monitoring. Here is an article that may help,

Can you please share the limits of vibration for crankcase and cylinders? As per API 618. Also what are the torque values for.tightening of big end bearings and cylinders?
Thanks

The API 618, requires that the reciprocating compressor manufacturer makes necessary calculations and provide the vibration limits for the cylinder, distance pieces, and crankcase.

And if I dnt have wuch values then what should be done? Please guide other than liasing manufacturer
