I read an article that BS 5950-1:2000 has been superseded by BS EN 1993:1-5:2006, but due to the issue of BREXIT(On 23 June 2016 citizens of the United Kingdom (UK) voted to leave the European Union (EU). On 29 March 2017 the UK formally notified the European Council of its intention to leave the EU by triggering of Article 50 of the Lisbon Treaty.)Will this treaty affect the the british standard, because my manager told me to use bs5950-1:2000.

As far as I know Brexit does not affect BS EN ...at least not now and in the near future

There is a difference between the European Union and Europe, that even our (brainless) politicians do not understand!

The drafting of European standards is not directly part of the European Union, CEN, CENELEC AND ETSI produce the EURONORM (EN) standards.

CEN, CENELEC AND ETSI are partially funded by the European Union, but are not controlled by it.

Basically, when a EN is produced this is taken on by BSI and re issued as a BS EN (So your BS EN 1993:1-5:2006, was derived from EN 1993:1-5 2006) Any BSI conflicting standards are then withdrawn by BSI.

For BSI it is business as usual, BSI will remain a full member and influential participant in the single European Standards system as well as an EU Notified Body. BSI will continue to play an important role in helping both British and overseas firms demonstrate product conformity.

CEN and CENELEC are private organizations outside the EU coordinating the work of 34 countries in the making and the dissemination of European Standards (EN). Membership of CEN and CENELEC is linked to the adoption of European Standards and the withdrawal of conflicting national standards, facilitating market access across the member countries.

So the UK is leaving the EU, but not leaving the EU!

It would be unwise to use earlier superseded standards.

Just stick with BS 5950 - it's easier than EC3!

Yes, the agreement for British use of Europeans is an agreement between BSI and CEN, presumably to take advantage of shared development costs and research.

Dik, Are you including all of the North American continent in that comment, or simply Canada. I would not have thought you were in the competition for level of brainlessness!

I am not sure about Britan...but in Germany we HAVE to follow EC3
We can use the (old) Steel DIN Code (DIN 18800) for information and help...but we have to follow EC

Do you know the execution standards DIN 27201 ?
I see they are still in use, however being DIN standards, they're only national (not EU based). Do you happen to know if they have been published or revised as an EN ISO standard?

Sorry...I do not want to write something wring because I do not really know the front end of the EU codes which one is valid and which one not
It might be more helpful to read one of the official 'Code' Homepages

thanks for the link.
Beuth showed that the standard I am interested in (DIN 27201 part 7) is only referenced in 4 other standards, meaning it probably isn't a high-level standard with regards to the general industry. Most likely not worth spending my money on.

DIN says much the same as BSI about the adoption of EN standards into the DIN system:

Also searching on their sales area shows that they have the same standard as above
