Rebuild in small steps, increments

Hi:

I have a complex sketch with some of its dimensions linked to parameters. This sketch has a lot of tangent and coincident constrains. When I change the value of a parameter by more than 0.5 mm at a time SW is unable to find a solution to the sketch. If I change it in steps of 0.1mm SW finds a solutions.

What I am doing right now is changing the dimension by 0.1mm until I get to my desired value. If there are many iterations I use a Design study to do it for me.

Is there a way to configure the rebuild action to do it in steps or a workaround for this issue?

thanks

Fernando

It's difficult (impossible ?) to say what is causing the problem without dissecting the sketch. It may be the sequence the parameters are resolved.

As a general rule simple sketches and more of them is better.

Tangent mates generally have several solutions. Any arcs that are being used as fillets are best left for the fillet feature later, after the sketch is extruded. Fillets are generally small circles which can more easily be confused by the constraint solver.

When you say parameters, are you speaking of dimensions or dimensions controlled by equations?

Is you sketch fully defined but for the "parameters"?

I've made some complex parts.
I've rarely made a complex sketch.
Attach your file here.

I am actually not using the sketches for a 3d-part, more like a inverse kinematics or geometric analysis. For parameters I meant various dimensions with their values linked, also lots of dimensions driven by equations.

I will try instead of one big sketch, multiple smaller ones. Thanks all for the responses
