Hi,

I was wondering if anyone is familiar with attaching Reinforing bars to Z shaped sheet piling.

I have a sheet pile retaining wall that is getting a cast in place concrete facing for the portion above grade. I would like for the horizontal rebar nearest to the steel sheeting to be attached.

Any info would be greatly appreciated

Thanks

Where we have put a concrete face on steel sheetpiling, we have welded Nelson Studs to provide a positive conection between the sheest and the concrete. The stud locations are ground to clean metal and welded with either a gun or by stick. The face is then reinforced with 1 or 2 mats of rebar. If you do weld rebar to the sheets specify weldable rebar ( I think it is A706) A615 can become brittle if welded.

DRC1 is correct. Use Nelson shear studs with the double rebar mat. Studs should be 3/4" maximum diameter and should extend beyond the closer rebar mat.
