Ready to close contacts on ACB/MCCBs

Guys,

I have been looking around on the internet for a description of the operation and workings of a ready to close contact on ACBs & MCCBs, can any of you clever people explain the workings to me please.

On an ACB it would usually be combination of functions to indicate that springs were charged, interlocks were free, no standing trip commands, etc. On an MCCB with an energy-storing actuator it would be a similar set of conditions. On a standard MCCB I'm not sure, because they are manual devices.

Never heard of it. Traditionally, there is a green light to indicate the breaker is open and this light is powered from the closing circuit. So if the green light is on, it should be ready to close, or the breaker is broken. I suppose a limit switch contact from the charged spring could be used as a more positive indication, but I've never seen it done.
