Re-Link a promote

How do you re-link a promoted body that for some reason has broken it's link. The only option seems to be to convert to a linked body, but we want to keep some of the unique features of promote.

I've been there, seen that, and I had to redo the promotion completely - but I don't know if that was the best, or only way, to fix it.
If you disallow partial loading you may keep this from happening in the future.

There is no solution at the moment.
You have to redo.
