Good morning. 1. Shear walls in the 2nd story only have to be strong enough to resist Reactions at the roof, IOW, RrA and RrB. The wisest course would be to design for the largest of the two, RrA in his example?
2. If its a gable roof, how do you calculate the minimum load to roof based on Ps = 10 psf?
3. Since the shear walls on the first floor have to resist all the winds, they should be designed to resist both RrA + R2A, right? Thx.
