Re-Attach Weld Notes 1

Any secrets to re-attaching weld notes that lose associativity with the part it originally "touched"? It is greyed, and when I try to change the associated part, it remains greyed. I get tired of adding symbols over again. I have tried adding a 2nd leader, then deleting the original leader, but does not work either.
