If you open a large assembly, and hear your hard drive constantly being accessed, chances are you are running out of memory.
Ctrl-Alt-Del and pull up your Task Manager, look at your Performance tab. You should be able to see your CPU usage and Memory Usage.
Something else I found, I read that you should only have 30-40 processes running at a given time. If you have more than 50, chances are you have malware/spyware on your computer, and should run some programs to get rid of them.
