Hi, I have a situation where I have an existing structure which we have load tests for the vertical piles but not the raking piles. I estimate the raking piles are about 20-30 degrees off vertical. Should I discount the raking piles in terms of assessing the vertical load reactions? Take a reduced capacity?

Yes, but only if you can resist the horizontal component, otherwise they may be governed by their shear capacity.

Timing has a lot to do with the outcome of a rain dance.

A raking pile carries load parallel to its axis. If a raking pile is loaded only with vertical load, another raking pile in the opposite direction is needed to counter the horizontal component carried by the first pile.

yes at each location there are two raking piles, each in different directions
