Hello to everyone,

Question:

what exactly does a radial restraint do?

a) prevents ALL radial displacement on individual nodes
b) prevents radial movement of the axis of the feature itself, thus not directly restricting node displacement per se(the cilinder may expand or taper?)

Post run analyse makes me wonder what's actually restricted.

Thanks for all the input, highly appreciated!

Boundary conditions are applied to the nodes and in this case the lateral displacement is set to zero in the matrix.

Can you provide a screen shot of the results that don't make sense?

A radial restraint applies to nodes. If, for some reason, the axis about which you restrained the nodes is not the true axis about which the nodes are created you can have strange results.

There can be two issues, one, the nodes are not defined in the cylidrical coordinate system and two, the wrong axis was selected when the loads were applied.
