Radial projection

Hi,

I am self teaching myself on flanges; does the term ''RADIAL PROJECTION'' refer to an imperfection only running perpendicular across the flange face? If so, my I have a layman's definition?

Thank you, I've read that but I need to know the definition of RADIAL PROJECTION, i.e. type of imperfection.

Looks like 'radial projection' is a definition of dimension of defect, not defect type.
"A radial projection shall be measured by the difference between an outer radius and an inner radius encompassing the imperfection where the radii are struck from the centerline ofthe bore."
