R designation for steel???

Someone asked me about what type of steel they use and the only designation that is labeled on the tubing is R288,they also get in, to a lesser extent, R106. I can not find any references for this. Does anyone have any knowledge of this or somewhere where I may be able to find this info. My first stop was matweb which had nothing...

There is a chance that the numbers refer to ASTM standards.
For example, ASTM A106 is carbon steel pipe for high-temperature service and ASTM A288 is for carbon and alloy steel for magnetic retaining rings for turbine generators.

Thanks for the help. I did find out fromthe guy that the company makes rollers for material handling conveyors so I doubt it refers to those standards. I was just curious more than anything else, I do appreciate the thought.
