i am not understanding QW-404.33. can some one elaborate it with simple examples???
QW-404.33
A change in the filler metal classification within an SFA specification, or, if not conforming to a filler metal classification within an SFA specification, a change in the manufacturer’s trade name for the filler metal. When optional supplemental designators, such as those
which indicate moisture resistance (i.e., XXXXR), diffusible hydrogen (i.e., XXXX H16, H8, etc.), and supplemental impact testing (i.e., XXXX‐1 or EXXXXM), are specified on the WPS, only filler metals which conform to the classification with the optional supplemental designator(s) specified on the WPS shall be used

Again, the designation i.e., are examples provided. What more do you need?

Examples:
A change from E7018 to E7016 or E7018-H4.
A change from E7018 H16 to E7018 H4.

1-As per its 1st sentence, We can change 7018 with 7016 or any other Electrode of SFA 5.1 (if it fulfill other requirements e.g F #)
2-As per its 2nd Sentence, if Electrode is not enlisted in SFA then: I used electrode of company XYZ now can i change with electrode of company ABC while impact is not involved in WPS.
3- 3rd sentence is OK

For SMAW QW-404.33 is a non essential variable.
