Hello.

I am studying bonnets regarding pedestrian protection. One of the best recent improvements i have found is the Mazda RX8 "Shock Cone Hood".

Im trying to understand its structural behaviour and its advantages against "bone framed bonnets". At first glance it seems that they are trying to spread the stiffness of the underlaying structure so hard points become less harder. It is like a more complex easy to manufacture bone frame.

Nevertheless i have the feeling that this structure has some more "secrets". ¿does anybody know more highlits about this structure?

Thank you.
Odradek.
