Hi, Im preparing myself for a tradetest for instrumentation technician.
i encountered a problem about a proportional band. i understand its just a reciprocal of gain. but im kinda confused about the formula of PB= 100/gain and the PB= 1/gain. what are these 2 formulas are trying to say.? hmmmm... [ponder]

The formula with the 100 in it is assuming you measure the PB as a percent, the other assumes you are talking about a decimal fraction. You know, like 0.01 being basically the same as 1%, just said a different way.

A search on "proportional band" with the quotes, should be productive.

Usually in the textbook in colleger, the formula is PB=1/Gain.

However, in the real world, many vendors are using their own equation and their own standard. So be careful when you are change this value, refer to vendor documentation and key in the proper value either in percentage or any other unit.
