Question about dimension lines

Hi, just a minor question really but I wanted to know why my horizontal dimension lines connect up across the gap between the extension lines (when the dimension lines and arrows are positioned outside the extension lines) whereas vertical dimensions have a clear space between the dimension lines?

Post an image as to what your talking about.

Extension lines have a gap between the part to the line (controlled in the Doc props under tools\Options - then the Arrowheads touch the extension lines and the Dimension lines if using ANSI standard have a gap for the dimension and this is mirrored for the other side.
