Good Day everyone!
Its my first time to post here, im hoping i would receive replies on my query and future queries as well.
Im a piping design engineer with no site/field experience thats why my knowledge is limited. Ill start my question with regards to proper selection of pipe support involving weld shoe/clamp shoe and U-bolt.
My question is what are the categories on proper selection?
Basically i know that weld shoes are used to support insulated pipelines of course provided that the pipe material allows welding. But with regards to cutting of insulation on point of support, clamp and U-bolt can be used right? But the use of clamp depends on the piping movement, clamp shoe cannot be anchored. U-bolt on the other hand has limited application due to temperature.
Say i have 1.5inch steam line with design temp of 400deg. C, project specs says that cutting of insulation on point of support for small bore lines is allowed. The piping is just resting but pipe span would require guide.
My design would be to use weld shoe and hold down guide on point of support for guide span. But the thing is for a small bore like that, im thinking if it is economical to use weld shoe.
Please do help me guys! some inputs and thourough explanation on proper support selection would really help!
Thanks!
