I need a little help from my US friends. In the US, what document spells out the welding ticket(s) required for those who weld stainless steel components of structures?

By tickets, I am assuming you mean here in the US we call it certificates.

Depending on the contract requirements, welders' qualifications per ASME IX are often permitted for stainless steel structurals.

 
Yes, D1.6. D1.6 is available electronically, so you can get a copy in less than 5 minuites.

Your welder's test coupons can either be cut & bent, or X-rayed. Thus, you could do it all in one [long] day.
