Does anyone have data, worksheet, or some information that would simplify calculating the amount of energy stored in the "stretch" of PVC pipe undergoing pressure variations.
Could work from raw data perhaps, and will do so. But would prefer help to find a short cut.

Ideal solution would be a worksheet that allowed input of the type of pipe (class, schedule, C-900, etc.). Then input the nominal pipe size, length, and then temperature.

Another solution would be to input wall thickness, ID or OD, length, and temperature.

Output would be best if stated in ergs.

My goal is to analyze pump cycling times on highly variable flow regimes based on energy stored in the pipe system itself.

Hello,

Perhaps ASTM D2837-02, Standard Test Method for Obtaining Hydrostatic Design Basis for Thermoplastic Pipe, might be of some use to you.

Thank you fredb.
I'll go study that.
