I am designing a barb for coolant fluid applications. I already have a good idea on dimensions for the barb needed. It is for a 3/8" braided rubber hose. It will require that it will seal without a clamp, so a push lock barb style. I purchased SAE J2552_200903 but this does not show specific barbed end dimensions. Any idea where I can find this info?

If it is a molded part, be sure not to have a parting line on the barb closest to the tip.

For anything approaching a critical application are you sure barb with no backing clamp is OK?

Posting guidelines faq731-376 (probably not aimed specifically at you)

we are using a 1/4" barb currently without a clamp and you can literally hang from one end if you were to hang the other end up to he ceiling, and it will not leak after hot and cold cycling etc. That is not my concern. I just want to know if there is a standard set of guidelines to follow in designing the barbs?
