Purpose of Layers

Greetings:

Can someone with a ton of experience explain the best use of layers? Our group uses layers to separate components; however, I wonder if we are working harder and not smarter.

There are a couple of good responses in the below post on the subject of layers. Nothing much has changed with them for many years. They are basically used to help organize things.

Good question for assembly components.

There are other ways to organize component. Special studies may merit moving components to other layers.

I prefer to leave the components on original layers.

For drawings, you can use Hide Component in a view. You can also add a component by itself in it's own view.
