Dear all

I am designing a pile cap as attached using SAFE software.

I am getting failure of punching shear. How to solve?

Pile cap size: 7.5m by 10m, 1.5m thick;
Loads: 8800 kn vertical and 5000 kn horizontal;

You can e.g., thicken the slab, add punching reinforcement, or increase the concrete strength.

PS. Are you using inclined piles? If not, 5000 kN horizontal load (almost as large as the vertical load) seems excessive.

The piles are vertical. Due to high lateral loads 9 pile group was adopted, this ensured that pile head lateral deflection is under 1% of pile diamter (1000mm).
