I am reviewing the construction of a 60 ft x 12 ft x 10 ft deep concrete trench or vault for pumps in a wastewater pump building. The walls and base are 14" thick, reinforced with 2 layers of reinforcing, and sized to resist flotation from a high water table.
The design does not need to satisfy ACI 350 for liquid containing structures, but, excessive cracks or seepage would be objectionable.
Would you recommend any construction joints in the walls? Or in the slab? Waterstops are provided continuously in the walls at the base slab.
Thanks.
