Pump Support on OH2 centreline mounted pump

Hello,
We are running into some issues with soft feet and alignment of a typical centreline mounted (OH2) type API 610 pump. The piping is not yet connected and its a construction project, the shaft of the pump seems to sit a bit angular leading to issues with alignment and soft feet. However, if the pump is supported by a support on the end suction site (tired by jacking up the pump a bit on the end suction side) the pump then aligns well and soft feet is corrected.

My question is, if it is ok to support the pump on the end suction side with a make shift ridig support (I beam with shims underneath or the likes) to help the pump get supported on the end suction side to help with alignment. I have not seen any restriction on such supports in any of the API standards.

Any pratical experience out there will most certainly help.

Thanks

Based on what you are saying i assume that the motor and the pump are not on a common mounting chassis and you are jacking the pump independently trying to align the shaft?
Is this correct.

Oooh, that sounds horrible. To support a pump off its inlet flange like that is normally not allowed as it stresses the casing too much leading to bending and cracking long term.

Fix your base problem ("soft feet"). Don't create two more problems by some method which will work for the first few weeks only.

A picture would be nice...

Horrible, sounds more like a disaster in the making.

It is a capital mistake to theorise before one has data. Insensibly one begins to twist facts to suit theories, instead of theories to suit facts. (Sherlock Holmes - A Scandal in Bohemia.)
