pump inside tank dike

if allowed to put an electric pump located in the dike? within the dike there is a tank with a capacity 10000kl flammable ethanol. If allowed, is there a set standard about it? and what is considered best if allowed to put the pump? thanks

Not permitted by NFPA 20, 2010 ED, see below and words in bold red

4.12* Equipment Protection.
4.12.1* General Requirements. The fire pump, driver, controller, water supply, and power supply shall be protected against possible interruption of service through damage caused by explosion,
fire, flood, earthquake, rodents, insects, windstorm,freezing, vandalism, and other adverse conditions.

4.12.1.2 Outdoor Fire Pump Units.
4.12.1.2.1 Fire pump units that are outdoors shall be located at least 50 ft (15.3 m) away from any buildings and other fire exposures exposing the building.

4.12.1.2.2 Outdoor installations shall be required to be provided with protection against possible interruption, in accordance with 4.12.1.

dear LCREP,

Forgive me, my question is less clear. Our engineers are planning to put a portable electric pump unit to remove residual ethanol in the tank. Distance of the tank outlet to the pump unit is only 1 meter over it. The pump unit and the electric motor is a pump used for hazardous locations. As a safety officer, I do not allow it because of the placement of the pump is within the dike that protects the tank from possible spills of ethanol. Although the use of the pump is only used for 6 hours. I mean, is there a standard that allows the placement of the pump in the dike that contains two tanks with a capacity of ethanol 5000kl? thank you very much
