Pull and expression linked to an attribute from a model in to a drawing.

Hi All

NX9 - I have created an attribute called area and one called perimeter in a model which are linked to expressions that were created via an associative face measurement. How to I pull these attributes in to the master model drawing please.

If you create them as Part Attributes, they will automatically be inherited by the Component when you create your Master Model Drawing.

To be clear, they will be Object Attributes assigned to the Component which should then be accessible either to link to Drafting Notes or even to be referenced by other Part and/or Object Attributes inside the Master Model Drawing.

Hi John

I mananged to get the attribtue across and in to the master model drawing, however it's not associative. If I then go back to the master model and change the shape of the sheet metal part, the expressions in the face measurement update, the values in the attributes that are assigned to the solid model update, but the onces on the drawing sheet do not. Updating the drawing doesn't update the note. If however I up the attributes in a table, then I can right click on the table and they will update, if there anyway this can be made to update with the drawing update? Also how do I get just a standare text note with an attribute in it to update?

You list NX 7.5 and 8.5 in your sig line, which one are you currently using?

While in the Drawing file, but in Modeling not Drafting, try doing a...

Tools -> Update -> Update for External Change

...then return to Drafting and see if your Drawing is now correct.
