Does anyone have any good experience with PTFE based sprays for freeing up siezed valves. Are they better than graphite based penetrating oils or others on the market. I have had a rep in from Interflon who claims good things (but he would I suppose).

Thanks

The penetrating is done by a light petroleum oil, usually containing additives such as a surfactant to aid wicking and water displacement, corrosion inhibitor & sometimes a chemical supposed to attack rust.

The solid PTFE particles have no wetting or wicking ability, i.e., non-penetrating. But, remain as a lubricant to prevent future seize-ups (if not washed away).

Most penetrating oils are only good as temporary lubricants.

I have had good luck with very thin synthetic oils. They are too thin to be good lubes, but they sure can penetrate.
I keep a small bottle of thin Krytox oil around for similar situations. A PAO would also work.

Rust never sleeps
Neither should your protection

Thanks All

Remaining as a lubricant appears to be the key plus of PTFE
