Does anyone have any input on what size of hole might be expected in a plate exchanger if it should happen to rupture? Not quite as straight-forward as using the tube diameter in a shell and tube rupture case.

Any advice is appreciated.

Thanks.

cswosu,

Is this realistic ? My impression of the failure mode for a plate frame heat exchanger is gasket "blow-out"

Can you ever produce a "through the plate" hole by overpressurizing either side of a PHE ?

Contact APV or any of the other large PHE vendors and ask about the results of their test programs.

My opinion only.....

MJC,

Thanks for the response. I'll give the manufacturer route a try.
