Still locking down all of the requirements, but I'm sure some can offer suggestions to point me in the right direction. I'm looking for both software protocols and hardware standards suggestions.
1) Single-wire (possibly 2-wire), 2-way comm.
2) Single master, multiple slaves
3) Most communications will be from master to slaves, occasional chatter from slave back to master.
4) Hot-pluggable is ideal, though not required
5) Data rates expected in the 10kb range (+/-)
6) Distance between master/slave(s) will be 10s of feet (100s of feet ideal, though not required)
7) Periodic line drivers possible (but would like to avoid)
8) 10s of slaves, with necessary drivers (practically unlimited number of slaves preferred, though not required)
9) High levels of noise immunity a huge bonus (but figure I'll have to go with differential for this)
10) +5V/+0V signalling levels ideal, though not required since driver's will be used.
I have looked at RS-485 as a possibility, but would like some 1-wire options.
