This is the first time I encountered projection symbol combined with letter "E".

Any idea what it represents? Envelope? European?

I guess European since the symbol is for the first angle projection. May be the letter is added to help the noobs to easily identify the type of projection?

That's a first. E is supposed to invoke the envelope rule on an ISO drawing but that's not how it's used. Looks to me like you can make up any definition you want.

"Erst" = "first" in German.

That's great idea. Unfortunately drawing appears to be Italian. :-)
