Hi,

I have a flat structure which I want to "project" or map onto a curved object (sphere or other conformal shape). How can I do this in inventor? I am new to inventor.

Thank you,

Inventor is not really suited for this. but I would model the flat structure with the required curve already in the part file.
If its a sheet metal part use the fold command. If its a part file use the bend part command.
You can use different design view reps to supress the curve for flat pattern drawings.

the above only works for cylindrical objects. Inventor and most other 3d programs do not allow compound curves (like from a stamping operation) to be unfolded.

You might be best using surfacing tools,etc..

But depenging on the final shape (wrap) of the part it can be modeled in different ways.

More information is needed.
If you have a flat structure, post it.
If you have a shape you want to projected on to, post it.
If you have a shape you want to map on to, post it.
